The Location
Officially opened in September 2006, the Home Team
Academy (HTA) is one of the seven departments of the Ministry of Home Affairs
(MHA) in Singapore. It strives to be an internationally recognized Centre of
Excellence which provides quality training and education in the areas of Law
Enforcement and Homefront Security to Singapore police officers.
The Challenge
The client had initially considered a proximity solution for this
location but preferred a solution with a larger reading range and an enhanced
price-performance ratio. In addition, the battery life of the tags was a major
concern for both the system integrator and the client due to fast depletion of
power.
The Solution
Due to the uPASS reading distance advantages over traditional proximity
readers and passive tag technology, Nedap AVI was chosen for this project. A total of 3 uPASS readers and 100 windshield
tags were installed at the facility.
